Global Imaging Systems, Inc. acquired Marbaugh Reprographics Supply Company, Inc. Marbaugh is a dealer focusing, in part of wide-format copiers and scanners.

What The Acquisition Means

GIS has been executing a dealer intergration strategy for some time. As a subsidiary of Xerox, they are looking to buy market share in the retail end of their market.

Xerox to Acquire GIS in Tender Offer

Xerox announced that it will acquire Global Imaging Systems, Inc. ("GIS") a value added reseller (or VAR). Xerox is paying over $1.5 billion in an all cash deal.

What They Are Thinking

Currently GIS sells predominately Ricoh, Sharp, and Konica Minolta products. They sell typically to small and medium businesses (SMB's)- with over 200,000 customers. Xerox, on the other hand, is making a concerted effort to court the SMB market.

GIS Acquires Dealer TML

Global Imagin Systems, Inc. ("GIS") remains on the prowl for add-on acquisitions. The company announced March 23 that it has acquired TML Enterprises, Inc. TML is a deal headquarters in Manassas, Virgina serving northern Virgina and DC.

How it Fits In

GIS is seeking to establish a presence in the "top 250 markets" acording to Dan Cooper, president of ESI. Clearly to do so they will remain on an acquisition binge.

Akron Graphics Supply- a flexographic materials supply house serving the western US was aacquired by Anderson and Vreeland. Anderson and Vreeland is a equipment manufacturer and developer of software serving the flexographic printing industry.
